Services Provided
In addition to the Resources for education and empowerment found on our website, Alzheimer’s Diversity Outreach Services provides important in-person support tools and services.
Family Consultations: Assist caregivers/family members with making informed decisions concerning the care of a loved one who has been diagnosed with any form of dementia.
Making Service Referrals: Help caregivers/families identify services that will benefit and support the entire family (Adult Day Services, Health Care Agencies, etc.)
Training on Caregiver Issues: Provide workshops for caregivers on issues pertaining to the Alzheimer’s disease, stress, legal issues, other health challenges, as well as grief and caring for their own personal health.
Faith Base Educational Workshops: Continue to educate the faith based community by offering workshops to Pastors/Congregations with information about the Alzheimer’s disease and how it affects the African American community as a whole.
Community Walks: Organize a community walk within the African American community to help raise more awareness about the Alzheimer’s disease.
Support Groups for Caregivers and Family Members: Organize support groups within the African American community who may find it difficult to travel a distance to gain support.
